Motion Sensing Wall Switches Recalled by HeathCo due to Electrical Shock Hazard

Is my product affected?

Heath®/Zenith and WirelessCommand® motion sensing wall switches

  • Brand HeathCo, LLC of Bowling Green, Ky.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

HeathCo has recalled motion sensing wall switches sold under the Heath®-Zenith and WirelessCommand® brand names in various models (SL-6106, SL-6108, WC-6106, and WC-6108 series in white or ivory colors). When these switches are in auto mode and the light is off, a small amount of leakage current passes through the electrical circuit and socket. If a consumer fails to disconnect the power at the circuit breaker before replacing light bulbs, they could make contact with both terminals inside the socket and receive an electric shock.

According to the recall notice, consumers should immediately stop using the affected wall switches and contact HeathCo for a free replacement switch. The brand name and model number can be found on a label on the side of the switch to determine if a unit is affected.
