What happened

Liebherr is recalling certain freestanding 30-inch wide, bottom freezer refrigerators because the door can detach, creating an injury hazard. The affected models are CS 1601, CS 1640, and CS 1650 in stainless steel finish, sold individually or as side-by-side companion units. Consumers can identify their refrigerator by finding "Liebherr" on the upper center of the door and the model number on a label behind the bottom drawer on the left interior side.

According to the recall notice, affected consumers should contact Liebherr immediately to schedule a free in-home repair. Consumers should check their refrigerator to see if the door hinge pin at the top has popped up, which indicates it has become loose.
