What happened

Columbia Sportswear is recalling battery packs that power heating systems in certain Omni-Heat™ Electric jackets. The recalled battery packs have a cell defect that can cause overheating and pose a fire hazard. Two battery packs were included with the Omni-Heat™ Electric Wader Widgeon, Omni-Heat™ Electric Big Game, and Omni-Heat™ Gale Warning Interchange jacket styles. The black battery packs measure 3.25 inches long by 2.3 inches wide by 0.7 inches deep, are marked with "Columbia" on top and "OMNI-HEAT™" on the bottom, and have "Part: 054978-001" printed on the side label.

Consumers who own affected jackets should immediately remove the battery packs and contact Columbia Sportswear for instructions on returning both battery packs for free replacements.
