Arctic Cat is recalling all 2011 Arctic Cat XC 450 ATVs and certain 2012 Arctic Cat XC 450 ATVs because the steering tie-rod can bend, which can cause loss of control and create a crash hazard. The 2012 models involved in the recall can be identified by checking the last six numerals of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), which is located on the lower front frame tube below the front bumper—recalled VINs fall within the ranges 6V0101 through 6V0178 or 700101 through 700230. The recalled ATVs are black and orange or black and lime green and display "Arctic Cat" on each side of the cowl with "450 XC" on the front center of the cowl.
According to the record, consumers who own a recalled ATV should immediately stop using it and contact their local Arctic Cat ATV dealer to schedule a free repair. Registered owners have been directly notified about this recall by mail.
