What happened

Sheico PKS Inc. is recalling scuba buoyancy compensator devices (BCDs) sold under the brand names Sherwood, Genesis, Talon, Aeris, and ReCon due to a defect in the overpressure valve that can stick in the open position, creating a drowning hazard for divers. The recalled models include Sherwood Silhouette, Magnum, Avid, Luna, Outback, and Freedom (serial numbers 21280001–22010740); Genesis Cayman, Cobra, Athena, and Phantom (serial numbers 21280001–22010740); Talon and ReCon (serial numbers 20520001–22010740); and all units of Aeris Atmos.

Consumers can identify their BCD by checking the brand name on the right outside pocket, the model name inside the jacket near the small of the back, and the serial number on the aircell. According to the recall notice, consumers should immediately stop using the recalled BCDs and return them to the dive store where they were purchased to receive a free replacement.
