Dell Inspiron 5000 Battery Modules
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Dell Inspiron 5000 and 5000e notebook computer batteries are being recalled because they can overcharge, become very hot, release smoke, and possibly catch fire. The recalled batteries were sold with Dell Inspiron 5000 and 5000e notebook computers or sold separately for use in these systems. The batteries can be identified by the words "DELL," "MADE IN JAPAN," and "Inspiron 5000 Battery Module" printed on the top. An identification number on a colored sticker at the rear of the battery confirms whether it is affected: the recalled batteries have colored stickers containing either the number "99" or the series "00 51" or less, plus the letter "P" in the first line.
Consumers with recalled batteries should stop using them immediately and contact Dell to obtain a discount on a future purchase of a new consumer notebook or desktop computer from Dell.
