What happened

Tools Exchange Inc. is recalling novelty cigarette lighters sold under two brand names: "Hotery Pocke Torch" and "Pocket Torch." The Hotery Pocke Torch lighters are fire extinguisher-shaped, come in various colors including red and green, and are marked with "HOTERY POCKE TORCH" on one side, "Made in Taiwan" on a sticker, and "PT-16" on the black plastic cap. The Pocket Torch lighters are fire hydrant-shaped, come in red and dark gray, and display the words "Fire Plug" in red inside a black disk on both sides. Both are butane-fueled torch-style lighters with black caps attached to the body by linked metal chains.

The lighters are being recalled because they lack child-resistant mechanisms required by federal law, which could allow young children to ignite them and cause fire and burn injuries. According to the recall notice, consumers should stop using these lighters immediately and return them to the store where they were purchased for a refund.
