What happened

Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling certain 2007-2014 model year vehicles, including E350, G550, C300, C350, CLK550, SL550, and SLK280 models. During service repairs, some vehicles may have received incorrect software configuration updates to their control units, which can cause various system failures including loss of drive power, reduced exterior lighting, or loss of stability and traction control functions. These failures could increase the risk of a crash.

The remedy is free software updates to the affected control units performed by authorized Mercedes-Benz dealers. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 3, 2022. Affected consumers should contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 to arrange service, and can reference recall number 2022040003.

Hazard
