What happened

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2020-2021 Ranger Super Cab vehicles with rear seats that have fixed head restraints. The fixed head restraints can interfere with proper installation of certain child seats, and the child seat may not attach correctly to the lower-rear anchors. This improper attachment increases the risk of injury to a child in a crash and violates federal safety standards.

To address this issue, Ford dealers will inspect and adjust the rear-lower child restraint anchorages for correct alignment at no cost. Dealers will also replace the fixed head restraints with removable ones, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 17, 2022. Owners of affected vehicles can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 for more information about the recall, which Ford identifies as 21C24.
