What happened

Volvo Trucks North America is recalling certain 2019 Volvo VNL and VHD trucks equipped with specific Bridgestone tires (models M854, M860A, and M864, size 425/65R22.5, with manufacture dates between March 2018 and May 2018). The affected tires may have exposed sidewall steel body cords that can cause rapid air loss while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Volvo will notify owners and instruct them to take their vehicles to Bridgestone Tire or Volvo Truck service centers for inspection and replacement at no charge. The recall began December 19, 2018. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Volvo customer service at 1-800-528-6586 and reference recall number RVXX1803.

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo) is recalling certain 2019 Volvo VNL and VHD trucks, equipped with Bridgestone M854 tires with date codes 2418-2518, Bridgestone M860A tires with date code 2518, and Bridgestone M864 tires with date codes 2318-2418, all of size 425/65R22.5. The sidewall steel body cords may be exposed, possibly causing unexpected, rapid air loss during use. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 119, "New Pneumatic Tires - Other than Passenger Cars."
