What happened

Volvo Car USA is recalling certain 2017 XC90, S90, and V90 Cross Country vehicles because bolts that secure the Inflatable Curtain (IC) air bags may break, causing the air bags to deploy improperly during a crash. This increases the risk of injury to vehicle occupants and means the vehicles do not meet federal safety standards for ejection mitigation.

Volvo will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the bolts at no charge, with the recall expected to begin April 1, 2017. Affected consumers should contact Volvo customer service at 1-800-458-1552 for more information about this recall, which is identified as R89714.
