What happened

Volvo Trucks North America is recalling certain 2009-2010 VT trucks manufactured between April 9, 2008, and September 24, 2009, as well as certain 2016 VNL and VNM trucks manufactured between January 2, 2015, and November 6, 2015. These vehicles are equipped with USK non-greasable drag links that may develop corrosion in the ball joints when seals become compromised, potentially causing the ball joint to fail and the socket to separate.

If a ball joint fails completely, the vehicle could experience total loss of steering control, significantly increasing the risk of a crash. Volvo will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected drag links at no cost to owners. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Volvo customer service at 1-800-528-6586 to arrange the replacement, referencing recall number RVXX1601.
