What happened

Mack Trucks is recalling certain Kidde Plastic-Handle Fire Extinguishers sold as accessory equipment for Mack trucks because the extinguishers may not function properly in a fire. The extinguishers can become clogged, preventing discharge or requiring excessive force to activate. In some models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force to cause injury and make the product inoperable.

Mack will notify owners and instruct them to contact Kidde for a free replacement fire extinguisher. The recall is expected to begin January 19, 2018. Owners should contact Mack customer service at 1-610-709-2131 or Kidde customer service toll-free at 1-855-262-3540, or visit www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information and to identify if their extinguisher model is affected.
