What happened

Spartan Motors USA is recalling certain model year 2004-2016 Gladiator tractor-drawn aerial emergency vehicles manufactured between September 12, 2004, and September 30, 2015. The air brakes on these vehicles may have excessive actuation and release timing, which lengthens the distance needed to stop the vehicle and increases the risk of a crash. The vehicles do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121 for air brake systems.

To remedy the issue, Spartan will notify owners and dealers will repair the vehicles by installing a new 3/8" control line at no charge. The recall began on August 15, 2016. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Spartan customer service at 1-800-543-5008 and reference recall number 16017.
