Spartan Motors is recalling certain 2013-2015 Gladiator and 2011 and 2013-2014 MetroStar emergency vehicles manufactured between June 15, 2011, and January 14, 2014. These vehicles are equipped with a pressure governor or hand throttle supplied by Fire Research Corporation and have a software issue that can cause an unexpected engine surge.
When an engine surge occurs, water pressure at the end of a fire hose can increase suddenly, creating a risk of personal injury to operators. To fix this problem, Spartan will notify owners and dealers will install a free software update. Affected owners should contact Spartan customer service at 1-517-543-6400 and reference recall number 14013 to schedule the update.
