Vermeer Manufacturing Company is recalling certain model year 2008-2016 Vermeer BC1000XL, 2013-2016 BC700XL, 2012-2016 BC900XL, 2009-2016 BC1200XL, 2003-2016 BC1800XL, 2005-2014 BC600XL, 2005-2016 SC802, and 2005-2013 SC602 Brush Chippers and Stump Cutters. These vehicles have LED side marker lights without built-in reflectors in the lenses, which reduces visibility and fails to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108. The lack of reflectors could reduce the ability for others to see the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Vermeer will notify owners and supply reflective decals to be installed on the trailer sides at no charge. The recall began on November 13, 2015. Affected consumers should contact Vermeer customer service at 1-800-829-0051 or by email at productsafety@vermeer.com.
