What happened

Nissan is recalling certain 2007-2012 Nissan Versa vehicles sold or ever registered in specific northeastern and midwestern states due to a front suspension issue. Road salt exposure can corrode the front coil springs, causing them to fracture. If a spring fractures, it may contact and puncture the tire, which could lead to a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.

Nissan will notify affected owners, and authorized dealers will replace both front coil springs at no cost. The recall began on February 2, 2016. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261 to arrange the replacement service.
