What happened

McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. is recalling certain 2014-2015 model year CNG Refuse and Concrete trucks manufactured between July 30, 2014, and July 10, 2015. These vehicles are equipped with pressure relief devices (PRD) that may fail to function as designed and vent a buildup of pressure in the CNG tank, such as pressure that could occur if the tank was exposed to fire. If the PRD does not activate during a pressure buildup, the CNG tank may explode, increasing the risk of fire and injury.

Owners of affected vehicles should contact McNeilus customer service at 1-888-686-7278 to arrange an inspection and replacement of the PRD at no charge. The recall began on September 25, 2015, and McNeilus will notify owners directly. The recall number is Emcara: 15E-059.
