McNeilus is recalling certain model year 2005-2014 Bridgemaster V Mixer vehicles that were manufactured between October 1, 2005, and December 31, 2014. The recall affects vehicles equipped with the optional Bridgemaster parking brake system on the trailing liftable axle. The problem is that a valve in this parking brake system allows secondary brake pressure to drop below the required 45 psi after a single brake application, which could prevent the emergency brake system from working properly if the primary braking system fails. This creates an increased risk of crashes and violates federal air brake system standards.
To fix this issue, McNeilus dealers will install a check valve at no charge to owners. The recall started on March 10, 2015. Owners of affected vehicles should contact McNeilus customer service at 1-888-686-7278 to arrange for the repair, referencing recall number VSR-TSB-009.
