What happened

Ford is recalling certain 2015 Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured between February 17, 2014, and March 19, 2015, that are equipped with daytime running lights. In these vehicles, the parking lights do not reduce their brightness when used together with the headlights, causing the total light output to exceed the amount allowed by federal safety standards. This excessive light output may temporarily blind oncoming drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

To remedy this issue, Ford dealers will update the vehicle's lighting control software at no cost to owners. The recall began on May 8, 2015. Affected owners should contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 15C02 to schedule an appointment with a dealer for the software update.
