Ford is recalling certain 2015 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS, and Lincoln MKT vehicles, as well as 2015-2016 Ford Explorer vehicles manufactured between May 4 and May 23, 2015 (with Lincoln MKT vehicles manufactured through May 21, 2015). These vehicles have a parking brake system that may not fully engage when applied, which could allow the vehicle to roll away if the transmission is left in a gear other than Park while on a slope, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners of affected vehicles, and dealers will test the parking brake system at no cost to the owner. If necessary, dealers will replace the parking brake control assembly.
