Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
General Motors is recalling certain 2013 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles manufactured between April 10, 2012, and August 2, 2012, because the console shift indicator may not illuminate to show which transmission gear position has been selected. If the indicator fails to light up, a driver could accidentally shift into an unintended gear position, which increases the risk of a crash.
To remedy this issue, GM dealers will replace the transmission gear selection control module at no cost to owners. The recall began on April 20, 2015. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 to schedule service, and can reference GM recall number 12162.
