What happened

Winnebago Industries is recalling certain 2015 Winnebago ERA, View, and Itasca Navion vehicles built on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Chassis that were manufactured between September 11, 2014, and February 27, 2015. These vehicles may have an incorrectly installed abutting wedge, which is a component on the door jamb designed to help open doors more easily after a severe frontal accident. If installed incorrectly and the vehicle is involved in a severe frontal crash, the doors may be harder to open, potentially increasing the risk of injury.

To remedy the issue, Mercedes-Benz dealers will inspect the abutting wedge installation in affected vehicles and correct any problems at no charge. The recall began in March 2015. Owners of recalled vehicles should contact Mercedes-Benz Sprinter customer service at 1-877-762-8267 to arrange an inspection and repair.

Hazard

If a vehicle that has an incorrectly installed abutting wedge is involved in a severe frontal accident, a greater force may be necessary to open the doors, increasing the risk of injury.

What should I do?

Mercedes-Benz notify owners, and their dealers will check the installation of the abutting wedge, correcting it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began in March 2015. Owners may contact Mercedes-Benz Sprinter customer service at 1-877-762-8267.
