What happened

Winnebago Industries is recalling certain 2015-2016 Winnebago Journey and Adventurer motorhomes, as well as 2015 Itasca Meridian and Suncruiser motorhomes manufactured between March 20, 2014, and November 6, 2015. These vehicles are equipped with Atwood on-demand water heaters (models OD45, OD50, and OD50CW) that contain a faulty water and gas valve. This defect can cause the water heater to overheat the water in the hot water supply tap, which may release steam and potentially scald operators or other users.

The remedy for this recall is still under development. Winnebago will notify owners of affected vehicles. Owners of potentially affected motorhomes should contact Winnebago customer service at 1-641-585-3535 or Atwood customer service at 1-574-264-2131 for further information.

Hazard

The overheating of the water may result in the release of steam, possibly causing the operator to scald themselves and increasing the risk of injury.
