Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company is recalling certain 2014-2015 trailer models (FS2CHA, VS2DX, VS1DC, VS2RA, and VS1RA) that were manufactured between April 14, 2014, and November 4, 2015. These trailers are equipped with specific Haldex Life Seal Type 30/30 Long Stroke Air Brake Actuators manufactured between January 9, 2014, and October 28, 2014. The actuators may have an incompletely attached internal rubber diaphragm, which could allow internal leakage and trap air pressure in the parking brake section.
If air pressure becomes trapped and is not vented, the parking brake actuator may not fully release, causing brake drag and potentially overheating the wheel-end service brakes, which could result in fire. Utility will replace the affected actuators free of charge. To arrange a replacement, owners should contact Utility customer service at 1-800-423-6591 and reference recall number 14E075. The recall notification process began on April 9, 2015.

If the diaphragm is not completely attached, there may be internal leakage from the service section past the diaphragm, potentially trapping air pressure in the parking brake section. This air pressure in turn, if not vented, may prevent full release of the actuator unit, and may induce brake drag and may result in overheated wheelend service brakes, increasing the risk of a fire.
Utility will notify owners and dealers will replace the actuators, free of charge. The recall began on April 9, 2015. Owners may contact Utility customer service at 1-800-423-6591. Utility's number for this recall is 14E075.
