What happened

Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company is recalling certain 2011 VS2RA heavy duty trucks manufactured between December 2010 and March 2011 that are equipped with Gunite automatic slack adjusters. The slack adjusters have a defect in the iron casting that can cause inadequate structural integrity in the housing. Under normal braking conditions, the housing could crack at the handle, which could result in loss of braking and potentially cause a vehicle crash.

To remedy this issue, Utility Trailer will notify owners and dealers will replace the defective slack adjusters at no charge. The recall was expected to begin in March 2011. Affected consumers should contact Gunite at 1-800-677-3786.
