  • Brand HARLEY-DAVIDSON

What happened

Harley-Davidson is recalling certain 2012 model year Dyna and Softail motorcycles manufactured between August 22, 2011, and February 24, 2012, due to a brake safety issue. The threads for the brake line banjo bolt in the front brake master cylinder may corrode in the affected motorcycles. If corrosion occurs, brake fluid could suddenly leak out, causing loss of the front brakes and increasing the risk of a crash.

Harley-Davidson will notify owners of the recall, which was expected to begin January 22, 2015. Dealers will flush and inspect the front brake master cylinder at no charge and replace it if necessary. Owners of affected motorcycles should contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464. The recall numbers are 0163 and 0164.
