What happened

Volvo Bus Corporation is recalling certain 2009-2014 model year 9700 coaches equipped with a wheelchair lift. The sliding seats in these vehicles, which are designed to move and make room for wheelchair passengers, have lock down handles that can be forced to latch in an incorrect position. If a seat is locked incorrectly, the handle may become damaged and the seat may not latch properly, causing it to move forward and backward on its track during a crash and potentially injuring the passenger.

To address this issue, Volvo will notify owners and authorized dealers will install plates along the sliding seat rail to indicate the correct locking positions and will provide an addendum to the operator's manual. The recall began on April 28, 2014. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Volvo at 1-800-528-6586 and reference recall number SR14-82.
