Continental Tire the Americas, LLC is recalling certain motorcycle tires in specific models and sizes due to a potential defect where the tread, belt, and carcass may separate, causing a loss of tire inflation pressure. The affected tires are ContiAttack SM, ContiSportAttack, ContiSportAttack2, ContiRaceAttack Comp. Soft, ContiRaceAttack Comp. Medium, ContiRaceAttack Comp. Endurance, and ContiRoadAttack 2 GTW models in sizes 120/70ZR17 and 120/70R17. A loss of tire inflation could increase the risk of a motorcycle crash.
Continental will notify owners of the recall, and dealers will replace the affected tires with new tires at no charge. The recall was expected to begin in October 2014. Affected consumers should contact Continental customer service at 1-800-847-3349 to determine if their tires are included in the recall and to arrange replacement.
