What happened

Continental Tire is recalling certain ContiTrac TR and ContiTrac tires in size LT275/70R18 125/122S that were produced between May 6, 2007, and September 20, 2008. These tires were sold as replacement tires and installed as original equipment on some 2008 and 2009 Ford F-250 and F-350 trucks. The affected tires may experience belt edge separation, which could lead to tread belt separation and increase the risk of a crash, particularly under conditions of overloading, under-inflation, or high ambient temperatures.

Continental Tire began notifying owners of this safety recall on April 14, 2011, and will replace the affected tires free of charge. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Continental Customer Service toll-free at 1-888-799-2168.
