1999 FORD WINDSTAR; 2003 FORD WINDSTAR; 2002 FORD WINDSTAR; 2001 FORD WINDSTAR; 2000 FORD WINDSTAR
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Ford is recalling certain 1999-2003 Windstar vehicles originally sold in or currently registered in Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. The front lower control arm rear attaching bracket or front subframe rear body mounts may separate, which could cause the lower control arm or steering intermediate shaft to separate, resulting in reduced steering control and an increased risk of a crash.
Dealers will inspect both front lower control arm rear attaching brackets and both body mount attachments at the rear of the front subframe, then make necessary repairs at no cost. If repairs cannot be completed, Ford will offer to repurchase the vehicle. Affected owners should contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332.
