Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain 2010-2013 Freightliner XB and XC custom chassis manufactured between January 1, 2010, and September 20, 2012. These vehicles have diode jumpers that may come loose in their connectors, which can prevent the cruise control from disengaging when the brakes are applied and prevent the brake lights from illuminating when the brakes are pressed. These failures increase the risk of a vehicle crash.
To address this issue, dealers will inspect the diode jumpers to ensure they are fully locked in place and will correct any problems found. Affected owners should contact the Daimler Trucks Warranty Campaigns Department at (800) 547-0712 between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday, or email DTNA.Warranty.Campaigns@Daimler.com. The Customer Assistance Center at (800) FTL-HELP is available after normal business hours. The recall began on December 26, 2012.
