2011 TRANS TECH HORIZON

  • Brand TRANS TECH

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Transportation Collaborative Inc. is recalling two model year 2011 Horizon Transit Buses built on Ford E350 and E450 Econoline chassis. The fiberglass installed in these vehicles failed to meet design specifications, causing insufficient torque at the upper torso mounting point of the front shoulder restraint. This defect means the shoulder restraint could detach from the B-pillar anchorage during a crash, increasing the risk of injury to occupants and causing the vehicles to fail to comply with federal safety standards.

TCI will notify owners and provide repair instructions and kits at no cost, or owners may take their bus to an authorized repair facility for repairs at no cost. The recall began on March 15, 2012. Owners should contact TCI at 1-845-988-0419.

Hazard

IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE SHOULDER RESTRAINT COULD DETACH FROM THE B-PILLAR ANCHORAGE, INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY TO THE OCCUPANT.

What should I do?

TCI WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND PROVIDE INSTRUCTIONS AND REPAIR KITS OR THE BUS MAY BE TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED REPAIR FACILITY, AT NO COST TO THE OWNER. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 15, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TCI AT 1-845-988-0419.
