The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Drinkmaker of Sweden AB have announced a recall of home soda machines that can pose a serious laceration risk. Internal components in these machines can break apart and strike consumers with shrapnel. The affected machines resemble coffee makers with white exteriors and black lids. They are labeled "Drink Master," "Drink Maker," "The Drink Machine," or "The Carbonator" on the front, with "Made in Sweden" printed underneath the lid. Soda machines sold after 1996 are not included in the recall.
Consumers who own recalled machines should stop using them immediately and contact The Soft Drink Company of Seattle, Washington to arrange a free repair. Unused machines should be discarded to prevent potential injury.
