REI Recalls Bicycles Due to Fall Hazard

What happened

REI is recalling Novara Fusion bicycles because the alloy steerer tube could separate from the fork, which could cause the rider to lose control and fall. The recall affects bicycles with specific serial numbers: U95Y07321, U96Y28393, or serial numbers in the sequential range U96Y28876 through U96Y29128. These espresso-colored bicycles were sold in two styles—Step Through (in extra small/small sizes) and Fusion (in medium, large, and extra large sizes). Serial numbers can be found on the underside of the bike.

Affected consumers should immediately stop riding these bicycles. According to the recall notice, consumers should contact their local REI store or the REI customer service center to arrange for a replacement fork to be installed at no charge.
