Is my product affected?

40-80,000 BTU Portable Propane Convection Heaters

  • Brand DESA Heating Products, of Bowling Green, Ky.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

DESA Heating Products is recalling portable propane convection heaters rated between 40,000 and 80,000 BTUs per hour due to a flashback hazard in the burners. When flashback occurs, fire burns inside the burner tube instead of at the end, causing the lower portion of the burner tube to become hot enough to ignite combustible materials underneath the heater. The affected models include Reddy Heater (RCP80VC), All-Pro (SPC-80CC), MASTER (TC80VC), Universal (80-CC), and Dayton (6BY73) with serial numbers between 017390000 and 017632220. Model and serial numbers can be found on the product carton and on labels attached to the heater, and all recalled units are marked "Made in China."

Since DESA is out of business and no remedy is available, consumers should stop using the heater immediately and discard the product.
