Vanguard and "FMI" Compact Fireplaces
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
DESA Heating Products is recalling approximately 10,000 Btu Thermostatically Controlled Compact Classic Hearth Fireplaces that burn propane or natural gas. The recalled models include the Vanguard (VMH10TPC and VMH10TNC) and FMI (EFS10TPA and EFS10TNA) with serial numbers between 015200000 and 017400000. The hazard is that the burner tube connection to the gas valve can leak gas when the main burner is on, and this leaking gas can ignite and cause a minor flare-up that could ignite nearby combustible materials.
Consumers who own one of these fireplaces should stop using it immediately and contact their retailer to schedule a free repair. Model and serial numbers can be found on the end of the shipping carton or on the model data tags inside the lower access door of the fireplace. If consumers have questions about the recall, they should contact their local retailer or DESA directly.
