CPSC, York International Corporation Announce Recall of Gas Furnaces

Is my product affected?

Gas furnaces sold under the York, Luxaire, and Coleman brand names

  • Brand York International Corporation, of York Pa.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

York International Corporation has recalled gas furnaces marketed under the York, Luxaire, and Coleman brand names due to a defect in the heat exchanger tubes. During quality assurance and manufacturing investigation, York found that these furnaces could have detached heat exchanger tubes. If a heat exchanger tube separates, flue gases including carbon monoxide could leak from the furnace, potentially causing serious injury or death.

According to the recall notice, consumers with affected furnaces should stop using them immediately and contact York to determine if their furnace is part of the recall. York will inspect all installed furnaces and replace any units with improperly fabricated heat exchanger tubes at no cost to the consumer. Affected consumers can identify their furnace by checking the brand name, model number, and serial number located inside the removable front panel; recalled units have serial numbers beginning with "WFKM" or "WGKM" followed by specific numerical sequences listed for each model family (P4HU, P1DU, FL8B, G8D, G8T, and L8T).
