What happened

Several manufacturers have recalled power tools due to defective switches manufactured by Eaton Corp. The switches can stick, allowing the tools to continue operating even after the user releases the trigger, which creates a risk of injury. The recall affects Bosch-brand drills (models 1011VSR through 1035VSR), Makita-brand rotary hammers, hammer drills, drills and screwdrivers (models HR2410, HR2420, HP2040, HP1501K, 6407, 6408, 6408K, 6410, and 6821), and Milwaukee Electric Tool-brand variable speed band saws (models 6227, 6230, 6232-6, and 6234).

Consumers who own any of these recalled power tools should stop using them immediately and contact the appropriate manufacturer's hotline: S-B Power Tool Co. at (800) 661-5398 for Bosch drills, Makita U.S.A. Inc. at (800) 462-5482 for Makita tools, or Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. at (800) 729-3878 for Milwaukee band saws. The manufacturer will provide either a free replacement tool or a free repair.
