DeWALT Industrial Tool Co. is recalling model DW9116 battery chargers due to a hazard where metal clips inside the chargers could come loose and protrude through the vents, potentially causing electrical shock to consumers. The recalled chargers are black with yellow lettering, display "DeWALT" on the front, and are designed for 9.6- to 18-volt batteries used with DeWALT cordless tools. The chargers have specific date codes on the bottom: 9927EM through 9952EM or 0001EM through 0031EM. Chargers that already have a yellow or green dot sticker near the date code have been repaired and are not part of the recall.
Consumers with a recalled charger should stop using it immediately and take it to a DeWALT or Black & Decker service center for a free repair.
