Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain 2018-2022 Thomas Built Saf-T-Liner HDX School Buses because the rear passenger seats may have been manufactured with an incorrect configuration that does not provide proper seat back protection. In the event of a crash, these seats may not adequately protect occupants, increasing the risk of injury. The seats do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 222.
Dealers will replace the rear passenger seats at no charge. All units were already repaired on August 12, 2021, and no owner notification was distributed. Owners of affected buses may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 and reference recall number FL-892.
