Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain 2019-2021 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 school buses equipped with Cummins B6.7N engines due to a software issue in the engine control module. The software may be calibrated incorrectly, which can prevent the engine from properly limiting engine speed and torque, potentially affecting safety systems including vehicle braking, traction control, stability control, speed control, and collision avoidance. This malfunction could increase the risk of a crash.
To remedy the issue, Cummins dealers will recalibrate the engine control module at no charge to owners. Owner notifications were mailed on March 29, 2021. Affected consumers should contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 to arrange the recalibration service, and can reference recall number FL-879.
