What happened

Mack Trucks is recalling certain 2019 Mack Granite, LR, and TerraPro trucks equipped with specific Bridgestone tires (M854, M860A, or M864 models in size 425/65R22.5 with certain manufacturing dates). These tires may have exposed sidewall steel body cords that can cause unexpected, rapid air loss while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Affected owners should contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177 using recall number SC0412 to schedule an inspection and replacement at either a Bridgestone Tire dealer or Mack truck service center. The replacement will be provided at no charge. The recall began on December 19, 2018.

Mack will notify owners, instructing them to take their vehicles to Bridgestone Tire or Mack truck service centers for inspection and replacement, as necessary, free of charge. Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain 2019 Mack Granite (GR), LR, and TerraPro (TE) trucks, equipped with Bridgestone M854 tires with DOT date codes 2418-2518, Bridgestone M860A tires with DOT date code 2518 or Bridgestone M864 tires with DOT date codes 2318-2418, all of size 425/65R22.5. The sidewall steel body cords may be exposed, possibly causing unexpected, rapid air loss while driving. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 119, "New Pneumatic Tires - Other than Passenger Cars."
