What happened

Mack Trucks is recalling certain 2011-2016 MRU and LEU trucks manufactured between June 25, 2010 and April 30, 2015, as well as 2015-2016 LR6 trucks manufactured between December 18, 2014 and March 6, 2015. The recalled trucks may experience excessive engine crankcase pressures that can cause the 90-degree elbow of the vent tube assembly to detach from the crankcase ventilation breather, potentially allowing engine oil to contact hot surfaces and create an increased fire risk.

Cummins will notify owners on behalf of Mack and will perform free repairs at Cummins service centers. The repairs involve securing the ends of the 90-degree elbow and reprogramming the electronic control module with new software to adjust engine output under misfire conditions and limit crankcase pressures. Affected owners should contact Mack customer service at 1-800-528-6586 or Cummins Inc. at 1-800-343-7357 and reference Mack recall number SC0391. The recall began on June 12, 2015.
