What happened

Motor Coach Industries is recalling certain 2018-2019 MCI J4500 motorcoaches with 60-passenger seating capacity because they may have an insufficient number of emergency egress windows. In an emergency, passengers could face extended exit times from these vehicles, increasing the risk of injury. The affected vehicles do not comply with federal safety standards for bus emergency exits.

To remedy this issue, MCI dealers will replace one non-egress window on each side of the vehicle with an egress window and install proper emergency exit window labels at no charge. The recall began April 4, 2019. Owners of affected vehicles should contact MCI customer service at 1-800-241-2947 and reference recall number FCP 468.
