What happened

Motor Coach Industries is recalling certain 2017 J4500 motorcoaches manufactured between March 14, 2016, and August 23, 2016. These vehicles have a multiplexing programming error that fails to alert drivers when the primary service brake air reservoir has low pressure. If a driver is unaware of low air pressure in the service brakes, the brakes may apply automatically, increasing the risk of a crash. The vehicles do not comply with federal air brake system safety standards.

MCI will notify owners, and authorized dealers will reprogram the multiplexing system at no charge to correct the issue. Owners of affected vehicles should contact MCI customer service at 1-800-241-2947 and reference recall number SB 439.
