2018 SUZUKI GSX-R1000; 2017 SUZUKI GSX-R1000
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Suzuki Motor USA is recalling certain 2017-2018 GSX-R1000, GSX-R1000A, GSX-R1000RA, and GSX-R1000RZA motorcycles because the drive chain may break or stretch. This can happen if a rider misses second gear while upshifting from first gear, causing the engine to run at very high RPM. If the rider then shifts into second gear without fully disengaging the clutch, the chain may break, causing the motorcycle to lose power and increasing the risk of a crash.
Suzuki will notify affected owners, and authorized dealers will replace the Engine Control Module and inspect and replace the drive chain and sprockets as necessary at no cost. The recall began on January 25, 2018. Owners should contact Suzuki customer service at 1-714-572-1490 to arrange service. Suzuki's recall numbers are 2A76 to 2A81.
