What happened

Suzuki Motor USA is recalling certain Accessory Backrest Mounting Hardware kits designed for 2006-2015 Suzuki VZR1800 (Boulevard M109R) motorcycles. The kits, identified by part numbers 990A0-75148 and 990A0-75148-BLK and manufactured between March 1, 2012, and April 21, 2015, may contain incorrect bolts. Some kits include four 110mm bolts instead of the correct combination of two 75mm bolts and two 95mm bolts. If the backrest is installed using bolts that are too long, the mounting bolts may contact the rear tire, which could cause loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.

Suzuki will notify affected owners, and authorized dealers will correct the mounting hardware at no charge. The recall began on July 21, 2015. Owners of affected motorcycles should contact Suzuki customer service at 1-800-444-5077.
