What happened

Newmar Corporation is recalling certain 2018 Essex motorhomes built on a Freightliner chassis because the low beam headlights do not illuminate when the high beam headlights are activated. This reduces the driver's visibility and increases the risk of a crash. The vehicles do not comply with federal safety standards for vehicle lighting.

To remedy the problem, Newmar will notify owners and authorize Daimler Trucks North America service facilities to reprogram the Freightliner chassis module at no cost. The recall began February 9, 2018. Affected consumers should contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300.
