Newmar Corporation is recalling various motorhomes from model years 1995-2018 that are equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. These fire extinguishers may become clogged, which can prevent them from discharging properly, or may require excessive force to activate. In certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force to cause injury and render the extinguisher inoperable. If a fire extinguisher does not function properly during a fire, it increases the risk of injury.
Newmar will notify affected owners and instruct them to contact Kidde for a free replacement fire extinguisher. Owners should contact Kidde customer service toll-free at 1-855-262-3540 or visit www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information. Owners may also contact Newmar customer service at 1-574-773-7791 and reference recall number 17E-062. A list of affected vehicles and fire extinguisher models is available on the NHTSA website.
